About Our Procedures
he tow most successful surgeries are very similar to each other in that both involve taking hair follicles from areas of natural growth (often the back of the head) and placing them at the target areas where the recession and thinning is occurring.
The main difference between these two main procedures is the way in which this hair is ‘harvested’. Each method has it’s own advantages and disadvantages in terms of the results, recovery time and the cost. FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation)
The Benefits
1. You do not need to shave your head before the procedure.
2. This method allows for up to 3,500 grafts to be transferred in a single session, meaning you could have your transplantation completed in one sitting. 3. There is minimal damage to the individual follicles as this method allows us to harvest them under a microscope. 4. The whole process is less labour intensive and as a result comes with a more affordable price tag. |
Non-Surgical Treatments
We also offer non-surgical treatments for people that do not feel ready for a FUT or FUE procedure.
These alternative treatments include drug therapies, scalp pigmentation, laser therapy and specialist hair products. To find out more call our friendly team. What Does It Involve?
Under local anesthetic, a thin strip of skin and hair follicles are taken from the donor area at the back of the head. The follicles in this area are genetically programmed to be immune to male pattern baldness. In other words, these hairs are permanent.
The surgeon then places the donor strip of skin under a specialist microscope where he can then pick out the strands individually. The strip is then dissected into smaller segments (grafts) of one to four units, before being implanted into the target area via pinprick incisions. The dissecting of the strip into microscopic small units of hair follicles is what will give you a natural look. Target areas are often the front hairline and/or crown. For many years this method of has been considered the ‘’Gold Standard’’ of hair restorative techniques. |
